CEG Outdoors for 2022

CEG Outdoors for formed in Aug 2021. Thanks for joining us and recommitting to get outdoors.

Many of us are aging. Many of us were coming through the the COVID-19 induced stay home sedentary lifestyle. Some of us are active and engaged in activities. Several needed inspiration and support. CEG Outdoors was born to address this need. Personally for me, I had a psychological barrier at 3 miles. I cannot run longer than 3 miles. My mind will shut me down. However the past several years of practice, I gradually built up physical and mental stamina to run half marathons (13.1 miles). Now I am preparing to run a full marathon at 26.2 miles. One day I want to go back and run the Chennai marathon. Perhaps we all can do it together!

The idea behind CEGO is simple. Every weekend we kick off a virtual relay event from 6AM Friday through 10PM Sunday in our local time zone. We use the local time because our members are distributed across the globe. Each of have a total of 64-hours in the virtual event window. Each of us encouraged to do our own walk, hike, run, bike, etc. and hence participate in outdoor activity. Please self report the activity. Pictures with scenery or sweat, equally works well. Occasionally yours truly will sum it up and provide a visual report.

You are welcome and encouraged to do the activity with your family or friends. Doing together takes you and the other members further. Some of the alumni members are experienced runners, running 100 km ultra marathons and such. You can do it too. But just get started with a km or a mile. Slow and steady you can build up more strength. Every km or mile you do outdoor activities, you will gain another minute of healthy and quality life. The more you do, the more you will enjoy it. It may be difficult at the start. As you continue to do it, you will get better and better. 

 

Our goal for 2022 is to collectively cross 5000 miles in our virtual relay events!
