CEGfi Preparation

We started CEGfi from this Jan 2022. We are lucky to have 1000s in our alumni who have worked in many different industries. In the coming months we will bring forward experienced individuals to share insights about the industry. The preparation consists of 3 parts

Planning

The CEGfi organizers identify speakers and request them to speak about their industry. The CEGfi organizer schedules a date for the session for about 60-90 minutes. Also the organizer creates a 1-page post to notify others about the event. An event calendar item is created and posted. A 60-minutes session is made up of 20-minutes of presentation and 30-minutes for Q&A. A buffer of 5-minutes is used at the start and end of the session.

Preparation

Each speaker is requested to prepare the basics about the industry and an outline of the opportunity. Key to the presentation is sharing personal stores that just facts. Personal stories may include: how the speaker got into the industry, why, how you tackled the industry challenges, how you collaborate inside the industry, etc. Our goal is to share insights that is often not available easily to people outside the industry. People outside the industry include other alumni looking for career or business opportunities. It also includes students who are job seeking and may likely be planning their careers.

Presentation

A basic outline for the presentation is:

  • 1 slide introducing the speaker (bio, background, experience)
  • 1 slide about the Industry at a high level
  • 2-5 slides on the structure and size of the industry for a newcomer
  • 2-5 slides about the market for the industry : customers, partners, competition, regulations, etc.
  • 2-3 slides on the Job and career opportunities
  • 2-3 slides on business innovation opportunities
  • your own outlook on what may happen in the future
