Satyan is responsible for all the technology used in the UPS package centers, hubs, scanning, automation, retail access points, international regulatory compliance, aviation security, automotive, telematics, preload and on-road technology. He is responsible for the technology that helps UPS deliver ~24 million packages every day.
Satyan began his UPS career in 2003 as Lead Application Developer and progressed through a variety of roles to Vice President, in the Information Technology Customer and Billing Group. In this role, Satyan was responsible for billing, revenue management, revenue analytics, profit planning, and the data exchange suite of applications that handle approximately $1.2 billion each week across several countries and business units. He also served on the UPS Architecture Board for solution architecture governance.
He is also responsible for leading work with the industry recognized ORION (On-Road Integrated Optimization and Navigation) and HEAT (Harmonized Enterprise Analytics Tool) programs. HEAT recently was recognized with a CIO100 award for 2021.
Prior to joining UPS, Satyan gained I.T. experience with leading consulting firms working for clients in the U.S., Latin America and Europe covering logistics, credit cards, retail merchandising and insurance domains. He led an I.T. team that helped launch revolving credit cards by a major U.S. credit card provider in Latin American countries.
Earlier in his career, Satyan worked for Indchem-ATL, a biomedical engineering company specializing in ultra sound scanners, CT scanners, Defibrillators and intensive cardiac care monitoring instruments.
Satyan is a recognized innovator with patents in the field of fraud detection, mobile fund exchange and statistical anomaly detection.
Satyan is a distinguished architect who serves as a board member for the Architect Certification Panel for The Open Group, an independent architecture practice organization.
Satyan has an undergrad degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, India. He has a graduate degree in computer science from National Institute of Technology, Trichy. Satyan also has an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Rutgers University, New Jersey.
Satyan played cricket for College of Engineering Guindy and was the captain of the Anna University ball-badminton team.
Satyan is from Karur, a textile town in central Tamil Nadu.
He is a die-hard fan of Rajnikanth and often a first day first show attendee provided his calendar co-operates. He likes to listen to Tamil movie songs and has 10,000 songs loaded in his car.
He serves as a member of Executive Board of Trustees in Sanatan Mandir, NJ. He is also serving as a Board of Director for The American Red Cross, Northern New Jersey.
