
Prior to assuming her current position as Senior Adviser to the Planet Vice-President and Executive Head of the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) at the World Bank, Dr. Shobha Shetty has held various leadership positions in the World Bank including serving as Global Director for the Agriculture and Food Global Practice; Practice Manager, Agriculture and Food in the Africa and South Asia regions; and Manager of the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization unit of the Social, Urban, Rural, Resilience Global Practice. Dr. Shetty’s work and interests span climate resilience, data and digital agriculture, agriculture science and research, nutrition, women’s empowerment, and jobs in the agrifood system. She has been a Visiting Fellow at the Tata-Cornell Agriculture and Nutrition Initiative (TCi) at Cornell University, NY. She has also been a Visiting Fellow at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). Dr. Shetty holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Anna University, Madras, India. She obtained her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in agricultural economics from Cornell University.
